GREAT WAY TO BOUNCE BACK

I will not utilize this platform to speak on the poor refereeing displayed infront of all spectators present at today's game who are unbiased. "IT JUST GOT TO STOP" I do know for a fact that the referees don't care one heck who wins or loses, but they have to call the game more consistently even.

Furthermore, I would strongly recommend to the coaching staff to have a talking drill, a shouting competition and a screaming match --- with the purpose of getting these boys to start communicating on the actual field of play.

Damiano showed how one plays when they come off the bench...lots of effort and high octane energy plus using his "Voice" to call for the ball, giving instructions to teammates of man coming and to make a pass. There were indeed a few players who attempted and there were those who continued talking throughout the entire game when on the pitch. Communication creates cohesion and cohesion brings success.

After watching practice on Saturday and seeing the drills being orchestrated by both coach Julian and coach Joe I find it totally baffling how the boys don't attempt to execute strategies in live gameplay. Woodbridge Strikers started off rather slowly, could the wind and heat be contributing factors. Lets hope not for the summer has not arrived as yet.

Whitecap London came in riding on a high from Thursday's win and knowing that Strikers had just suffered their first lost and might be fragile. The second quarter saw Woodbridge Strikers playing with a bit more poise with quickness all over the field resulting in Damiano opening the scoring on Strikers behalf.

Following a series of changes and players being inserted into new playing position... Marco playing in the number nine role. The striking duo of Ethan and Tremaine both got back on track finding the back of the net. There were a few good series of crosses and attempts into the opponent's goal area. A far better showing of commitment, effort and creativity which manifested in a clean sheet and three goals for Strikers.

From the stands it's so easy for me, the writer to analyze the boys decision... not being under any physical pressure of a tackle or a mental foray of ideas at once for example should it be a pass, dribble or shot... honestly, it's not easy out there.

Firstly, let me extend congrats to coach Joe and coach Marco for the splendid job in the absence of coach Chris. Honestly, I don't know where to begin as it was highly entertaining and exciting in the same breath. The first quarter was totally Ethan's show, speed, quickness and deadly finishing only to be missed by mom Mavis. Coach Joe realized that the opponent's challenge was not forthcoming, so he decided to experiment with formation and players in different positions. Tayvin was slotted into the center forward position. Seeing him in a break away heading towards goal our contingent of supporters started cheering loudly for him to score. Brian is photographed in the above photo His excitement was hard to detect behind the humility and shyness of his personality. It took some convincing for Brian, Cristian's dad, to agree on doing a written article from a parent's view point. He was asked specifically to share from a parent's experience coming from a family that possesses a rich history in the sport. According to Brian, "Cristian's selection to travel to Southampton (UK) was a privilege to say the least. In addition to our regular Club training, Cristian attended additional goalkeeper training prior to departure, not knowing the level and caliber we were walking into.
