WE HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN

The message was sent out in a very convincingly loud manner to the rest of the teams Woodbridge Strikers will be playing against this season in the OPDL league.

However, lets not get carried away or ahead of ourselves that Strikers are going to play like they did today or better in every game. That's not the point at this juncture... the boys played the first game away from home and they simply mesmerized their opponents, Ottawa TFC in all areas of the game.
Not knowing what to expect from the starting line comprising of a new goalie and central defender in a competitive game alongside the rumours that Ottawa TFC were going to beat Woodbridge Strikers. The new players announced to the rest of parents the reason they were selected by the coaching staff to join this team.

Contribution came from all eighteen players when they entered the game of play. Dreson was outstanding between the post and made three very classy, but timely saves especially in the first quarter that if scored could have changed the momentum of the game. Mark too was Steller in the defence and on numerous occasions joined in the offensive plays, resulting in a near miss from a fantastic distance shot.

Woodbridge Strikers dictated play from the kickoff with Isaiah and Tayvin's combination in central midfield for the first time taking complete control by spreading timely and accurate passes into lethal duo of Ethan and Tremaine. From all indications it appeared as if it was going to be the Ethan and Tremaine show.

Marco had other ideas and decided to audition for the leading role after Ethan and Jordan scored in the first quarter. Marco scored a stunning freekick leaving the bewildered keeper arguing with his defenders. He followed it up immediately with a well placed shot low and hard from a cross into the opponent's net.

Daniel scored a sublime individual effort after twisting and turning pass the Ottawa TFC defenders on his fourth attempt. Tremaine eventually joined in the fun by slotting home a goal from the penalty spot. Ethan saved the best for last with a delicate side foot chip in the net away from the outstretched arms of the goal keeper.

As a team the defensive unit was impeccable securing a clean sheet. Very impressed with the amount of off sides that was created. GREAT JOB!! Christopher, Mark, Amrit, Luka, Tayshaun M and Dreson.

The midfielders stifled out anything the opposition tried to muster up and kept them in front of them at all times. Covering for each other was timely. KEEP IT UP!! Fateh, Tayshaun B, Tayvin, Marco, Anthony, John-Michael, Isaiah, Jordan and Damiano.

The strickers' movements and dropping  to link up play confused the opponent's defenders to huge success. KEEP SHOOTING!! Daniel, Tremaine and Ethan.

I would say there were about 30 shots taken in the game with about 12 (accurate) on target resulting in a 7:0 victory.

Great start to the season. Coach Julian and Joe you have set the standard high in game one and that's what the fans, parents and supporters will be looking forward to everytime Strikers take the field. Impressive win!!

Well done Woodbridge Strikers!!
