REASONS BEHIND THE DECISION

As a parent it must have been strangely surprising of the news that we wouldn't be allowed inside the gym for the remainder of the indoor training. Taking into consideration that as parents we were always allowed inside to watch and catch up on current news.

Getting an opportunity last night to converse one on one with Head coach Julian as to the specificity of his decision of omission. The coach outlined his concept of what he is trying to instill in the boys. Case in point, getting our boys to be a lot more focused on actually playing instead of looking at or for parents reactions. Developing a cohesive understanding of teammates strength before outdoor season in a closed environment.

In all honesty I do believe most parents falls right into this category.

Watching the practice Thursday night at Holy Cross as a Parent Rep/ Blogger I was taken back down memory lane to my training days in the Army. The drills were synchronized, hearing their feet hitting the gym floor sounded as though it was only one person. Looking down the rows and columns all one noticed were proper spacing and a distinct straight line formation. Confidence and professionalism was oozing from the boys. This phase of the practice was under the watchful eyes of Drill Sergeant coach Joe.

Some of us were with Brampton Youth SC when we attended a tournament in Niagara Falls with coach Chris. The weather conditions were freezing and raining throughout but we all saw a team that impressed everyone in the manner of their warm-ups (they won that tournament). Suffice to say, I believe that is what coach Julian would love to accomplish by having opponents feeling defeated before kickoff.

Coach Julian stated the three major components about his philosophy.... technical, tactical and fitness with strength. Furthermore, he said what he hope is that they the coaches have a difficult task when selecting a starting team based upon the fact everyone of the boys are truly giving one hundred percent in practice and training.

The coach expressed that his future goals for these boys are for them to be the best, by being able to get scholarships and possiblity of first team soccer for those who decide on that route. The seasons objective is to win it all.

There was a pleasurable competitiveness amongst the boys throughout practice.

NB: The new goalie from all indications seems to fit in well with the boys (he is rather quick).
