GREAT PRESEASON START

A first look at the team for majority of parents in a competitive atmosphere.

Two friendlies completed and two impressive performance with some individual stand out plays.

It was great seeing Nicholas and his parents as he now plays with Oakville FC. Just as delighted also in reconnecting with the parents of the boys doing training at TFC.

The Oakville facility just 10 years old is very impressive but could use a few upgrades. Wonder if and when Woodbridge SC will boast something similar.

With Christopher absent there had to be a reshuffling within the defensive structure. Tayvin was slotted into the central role between wing back and Marco given the opportunity as holding midfielder.

The start was a bit wobbly with some errant passes and ball control from Isaiah one of the mid field general on the team. He was pulled aside by the coach and I assume given some encouraging  words... thereafter his play improved.

Improvement was quite evident from the Thursday's game against TFC. The combination of passes not just in the defensive half but going forward and threatening the opposition in their half of field. Marco appeared to fit in the position like gloves on-hand. He made some timely tackles along with surging runs forward and scored on one of them.

Anthony from all indications seemed to have found his swagger back and playing like the player who played in the Danone final. He was getting on the ball making positive decision and winning fifty fifty ball.

Overlapping runs coincided with sharp one touch passes was attempted on numerous occasions throughout the game resulting in Woodbridge Strikers out shooting their opposition. Strikers were not afraid to build from the rear with Cristian which culminated in a goal in one particular case...Cristian outlet to Isaiah who then pass to Ethan who further pass to Tremaine who finished the play by scoring. Damiano joined the scoring party also by slotting home a goal. Ending in a 3-0 victory.

All around the boys are beginning to fit into the concept of the team and with more practice and friendly games the team should be ready for the OPDL season and Charity Shield.
