AN ASSESSMENT GAME

Being in the Media does come with its privileges.
One of which allowed me to watch the game as a blogger.

Present but unable to participate due to injury were Luka and Fateh.

It's was almost the story book ending when Jon-michael shifted the ball from left boot to right with intent on slotting it in the open net. He would have been the ideal candidate to win the game for Woodbridge Strikers.

The game started off briskly by TFC Academy trying immediately to utilize all areas on the playing field. In all honesty Woodbridge Strikers took a few minutes off the clock before settling down.

Eventually after they did we started seeing Anthony and Isaiah getting more and more on the  ball in the opponent's half making their intentions clear that they were not going to be intimidated by the physical playing style of the opposition. From all indications every player came to play.

Yes TFC had lots more possessions which is quite understandable taking into consideration they are accustomed to the field size. Which meant Ethan, Tremaine, Damiano, Jon-michael and Daniel had loads of real estate at their disposal and on numerous occasions capitalized by moving the ball down the flanks in an attempt to create crosses in the opponent's penalty box.

The defensive unit of Christopher, Amrit, Jordan and Tayvin stood firm inspite of repeated attacks from TFC. The first quarter ended 0:0 not due to lack of trying by both teams.

The second quarter started with both teams now fully aware that they each possess skillful players and looking menacing in attack. It was in one of these attack by the opponents that they scored their first and only goal. Strikers didn't flinch, if anything it only motivated them.

Marco, Tayshaun M and B were introduced to great effect. Players were rotated in different positions and I believe that disrupted TFC play somewhat. Tremaine latched onto a beautiful pass that would have been a clear goal but was incredibly deemed a foul on the opponent player.

Make no mistake they were playing against some very hard tackles. Amrit, Jordan, Anthony, Damiano all got hurt. Our boys showed true character by not yielding to the pressure. Tremaine found Daniel in space and he leisurely chipped over the out rushing goalie to tie up the game.

TFC made multiple changes in an attempt to try and regain the lead. Our keeper Cristian ensure that came to nothing with a spectacular save which had the TFC coach shouting "that Lisi boy, good save".

1-1 Score

Great game boys you all played a fantastic game. First official game as a newly formed team and great first result. As coach Julian said there's still room for improvements.
