IT LIVED UP TO THE HYPED

I can only imagine how excited the newly formed Woodbridge Strikers team must have been in facing Vaughan at the OSA field (stadium) for the first time this season.
The game had a real professional feeling about it, seeing both set of boys coming out from the OSA building looking very organized. During warm up the boys even appeared different in comparison to  previous games.

The  Vaughan supporters out numbered the Strikers supporting faithful. The referee carried out the formalities between players and coaches whilst everyone present, neutral spectators included eagerly awaits the start.

With Maximas away, Amrit and Anthony unavailable because of injuries the coaches had to reshuffle playing positions and starters.

Vaughan had the first kick off and immediately it became quite obvious that all there plays would be going directly through their number 67 player (quite good I might add). Their front line players kept switching position in the hope of getting an advantage upon our defenders...but to no avail, it was well guarded by Captain Tayvin, Chris and Tremaine who all did a fantastic job throughout on the defensive side.

The Strikers then settled in and began stroking the ball around with more confidence as well as fluidity. The Strikers pressure payed dividends after a well struck shot blocked by their player set up perfectly for the right boot of Tayvin which he dispatched superbly into the roof of the opponent's net.

Attacking the Strikers are a lethal force going forward, however when position of the ball is lost they need to become more cohesive defensively as a unit (Not just reliance on defenders). There were moments in the game that Vaughan almost exploited that short fall within our boys.  Vaughan goalie's gloves must be in the garbage because of over usage in the game, on the other hand Cristian's gloves are still new. Our boys have to learn to finish in the final third, not just letting the goalie make brilliant saves.

The Strikers undoubtedly possess a flexibility of having a group of players that can be placed in any position and still give a good account of self. On that note credit must be given to all our boys playing in positions they are not comfortable in.

On a sad note three of our boys left the game with new injuries or reaggravation of previous injuries...Jordan, Tayshaun M and Isaiah who will be out for awhile.

A massive statement win going forward as the last six out of seven games are against what one would/could consider as better opponents within the age group.
Well done Woodbridge Strikers OPDL U13 Boys
11-1-1  ⚽ 🥅
