THE SHOTS WERE SPECTACULAR

It was great seeing more dads out today than  moms for a change. Firstly, let me commend coach Chris and coach Joe on working around the injury bug that's plaguing our boys. The starting eleven had not been used before.

I had the privilege of conversing with Fred last night, who is the head coach of Whitby. I was informed that they won the AIM Cup last summer in Buffalo, NY. He further stated that they play a decent level of soccer. 

From the onset it was quite evident that their style of play was going to be of a physical nature. Our boys were not rattled, because last game they were subjected to said style of treatment. They were prepared.

Woodbridge Strikers played out from the back started by Cristian in net, through to Tayvin who at times was the primary distributer. Seeing the ball switch from side to side by our boys was nothing short of mesmerizing quality.

We out sprinted, out ran, and out hustled them in all departments of the game throughout the four quarters. Whitby resorting to pulling of jerseys and holding onto arms still could not prevent the Strikers exemplary performance.

Anthony, the corner kick specialist, was seated on the bench nursing an injury, so there was improvisation in the corner kicks taken by Daniel and Maximas which almost resulted in goals. The Strikers' pressure was constant in the opponent's half especially in close proximity to their net.

Credit must be given to both goalies on the opposing team. Their shot stopping skills were fantastic between the post, also assisted by the crossbar on no less than five occasions in keeping the ball out of their net. We saw some great goals registered by Ethan, Tayshaun B. and Luka today.

Every single player who played in the Woodbridge Strikers uniform today against Whitby was "amazing in their individual play". I can't write everyones name, just remember that when the team wins we are all winners. The drive home was very pleasant. That's what winning does.
