THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR CANADA AND OUR BOYS... 2026

With the successful bid to host the 2026 world cup... Canada, USA and Mexico's future is definitely looking brighter. But as a parent of a young soccer player in Canada I would like to put the focus on Canada right now.

Hopefully Canada is seeing this as their opportunity to rise to the occasion, but to get there, they now need to get serious about training our youths for the task ahead. It would be truly embarrassing if we are hosting and cannot attend our own party with a good showing.

Most likely some of the selection for the team will come from the age groups 2005, 2004, and 2003 who at that time will be coming into the peak of their abilities on the playing field.

Lets be futuristic thinkers and analyze our boys for 2026 based upon how they are playing now and with improvements can they make that 23 man roaster. The answer undoubtedly is a resounding "YES".

As I have always stated that a win is great but I appreciate more so how the team wins. These boys are playing collectively as a unit and just to add for the nay sayers...we are not a two man team.

When I look into the defensive aspects of the team for the future and if these boys remain intact I don't see any reason why at least three from the team wouldn't be called into camp for trials.

Furthermore, in the midfield department, I do believe that we have a great group of boys. It would be impossible for some not to be chosen as long as they continue to improve.

Presently on the forward line it does not matter who plays upfront because the delivery is always on time. This now takes me to my most important point, how beneficial stats would be if it was being collected from now. Can one imagine Cristian's clean sheets will not be recorded, as well as Ethan and Marco's goal scoring exploits gone unnoticed because conveniently at this age stats are not recorded.

Our boys are not with TFC, Montreal Impact or Vancouver Whitecaps where all those stats are collected. Suffice me to say, as parents this is where we all come into play if we genuinely believe in our sons' ability in having a chance for 2026. We too must find a method to tabulate their information.

With this news it only means that the possibilities become more realistic for 2026. I have no doubt whatsoever in some of our boys abilities to make it onto the world stage in front of families and friends not to mention the global audience. As John Herdman (Canadian National Head Coach) said that we as Canadians should no longer settle for being average (Tim and Sid).

Honestly, the work load ahead is gigantic in closing the gap on the rest of the world in regards to soccer.  Let us all as parents support our boys, but remember education is also very important so time management is required.

GO CANADA 2026!! ⚽🥅
