Day Two: Great Results, Puntuated With An Accident.

1st Game

The formation change was a shocker, nevertheless, it worked like clockwork  and not a second lost in the transition by the players. The technical director of Dero Academy must have been extremely mesmerized from observing the team play yesterday and how they played today.

The coaches exemplified their learned knowledge along with their gained experience in the switching of formation and players placed in different positions. Substitutions were timely and invoked heighten energy on the field that was already of high intensity.

In the first game Ethan continued from yesterday's game by netting the first goal. Closely followed by Tayshaun B. with a brace. The highly touted Dero Academy was still in a state of bewilderment as they could not register a single shot on our net. Amrit took the shot of the tournament that rocketed off the crossbar back into play. Tayvin went on a surprising solo run which resulted in a corner kick from his attempt at goal. Thereafter, Amrit finally found the back of the net, closely followed by Maximus with the clincher. Overall an impressive win for Woodbridge Strikers with a score of 5:0.

On a sad note one of Dero's player (Imar) broke his wrist during the game. We wish him a speedy recovery.

2nd Game

Some players got their first start of the tournament as the coaching staff did rotation to keep playing time equal. It was quite evident that the boys were a bit fatigued from the first game.

The highlights of this game was the brilliance of the Pickering goalie, who made some impossible saves of our striking duo. Still, there were moments of classical passes from defense into midfield spread out to the wing or directly onto the feet of the stricker.

Eventually the Woodbridge Strikers found their shooting boots and Gian Luca and Daniel netted for the Strickers. A deserving win without any injuries to our boys. The coaches final instructions was for the boys to have an ice bath to recuperate.

The support was massive over the two days, please come out tomorrow and cheer the Woodbridge Strikers on in the final.

Firstly, let me extend congrats to coach Joe and coach Marco for the splendid job in the absence of coach Chris. Honestly, I don't know where to begin as it was highly entertaining and exciting in the same breath. WHERE WAS THIS BEFORE ?

The weather condition was very conducive for soccer. Did it materialized into a brilliant game of soccer especially in Woodbridge Strikers favor ? Playing against TFC OPDL boys from rumors one also has to contend with the referee's decision...we have witnessed it first hand. The roar by Strikers is always a determining factor of their vibes if they are in for a good game and today's shout could be heard from far and wide. Strikers sent a verbal message before a ball was kicked or the blowing of the referees whistle. Even in warm up gave the impression of cohesion, professionalism and focus. TFC came out from kick off as a rocket fired into space trying as best as possible in stopping Woodbridge Strikers Boys from playing out of defense. Brian is photographed in the above photo His excitement was hard to detect behind the humility and shyness of his personality. It took some convincing for Brian, Cristian's dad, to agree on doing a written article from a parent's view point. He was asked specifically to share from a parent's experience coming from a family that possesses a rich history in the sport. According to Brian, "Cristian's selection to travel to Southampton (UK) was a privilege to say the least. In addition to our regular Club training, Cristian attended additional goalkeeper training prior to departure, not knowing the level and caliber we were walking into.
