As Seen Through A Parent's Telescope

His excitement was hard to detect behind the humility and shyness of his personality. It took some convincing for Brian, Cristian's dad, to agree on doing a written article from a parent's view point.
He was asked specifically to share from a parent's experience coming from a family that possesses a rich history in the sport.

According to Brian, "Cristian's selection to travel to Southampton (UK) was a privilege to say the least. In addition to our regular Club training, Cristian attended additional goalkeeper training prior to departure, not knowing the level and caliber we were walking into. From the onset, Elite Tournaments who organized the event had a jammed pack itinerary set for the boys. Their day started with an early morning breakfast and off to training they went. They trained on and off the field following the exact schedule as the Southampton's first team. They had to be both physically and mentally prepared for their day as mom and dad had little if any input. One day, the boys were fitted with gps tracking suits which monitored speed, reflex, heart rate etc. The entire experience was very rewarding to say the least. We learned how soccer as an organization should be run. It matured our son and shaped his perception on where his level needs to be as a professional athlete."

Based upon Brian's observation, there are areas in which we are lacking. For instance, equipment that can be used for monitoring our boys vital signs while training, are not yet available here in Canada at this age level. Imagine, if our boys had those gadgets at their disposal how great they would, or could become.

Heartfelt thanks to Brian and family for sharing from their experiences. Let this be a positive sign for all our boys...continue to dare and dream because they have seen the reality of it.

Coming soon, a gallery of Cristian and Tayvin.⚽️🥅
